Despite attempts to get the group back together over the years, all seven members, including Paul Cattermole, Rachel Stevens, Jon Lee, Tina Barrett, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, and Hannah Spearritt have only reformed once and that was for a reunion tour in 2015 and, since then, the group have toured occasionally as S Club 3 and more recently as S Club Allstars. With hits like Don't Stop Movin' and Never Had A Dream Come True, the group won plenty of fans worldwide and even when member Paul Cattermole left in 2002, the band was rebranded as S Club and released another album before calling it quits. The show lasted for four seasons and also saw the septet release a film, Seeing Double, in 2003. Introducing the group via a TV show in 1999 was a stroke of genius by Fuller. When Simon Fuller was sacked as the manager of the Spice Girls, he came back with S Club 7, who from 1998 until 2003, were one of the biggest bands on the planet. Carrie Askew married a member of Saint Etienne and both have raised families in the meantime. Fast forward to 1996 and they released their second album, Girl Power, in the UK, which was actually unleashed in Japan a year earlier and titled Shampoo Or Nothing.Īfter a third album, Absolute Shampoo, failed to set the world alight in 2000, the girls called it a day and, despite only giving one interview since 2000 to Q magazine in 2019, nothing much has been heard of from them. When Shampoo released Trouble in 1994, their brand of power pop music was like a breath of fresh air and the duo instantly became megastars in Japan. The Plumstead pop duo Shampoo were everywhere in the early to mid-'90s and even released a song titled Girl Power before it became the globally used slogan of the aforementioned Spice Girls. Since then they have regrouped in 2007/2008 as a full five-piece and once again in 2019, this time as a four-piece without Beckham. It was during their Spiceworld tour in 1998 that Geri left the group and, as a four-piece, they released Forever in 2000, and while not actually splitting up, they went on hiatus. With the 1996 release of Spice, and in 1997, Spiceworld, the group became a worldwide sensation and even released a movie. The Spice Girls, of course, are Melanie Chisholm, Geri Horner (née Halliwell), Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, and Victoria Beckham. The Spice Girls need no introduction - the group were a massive part of the '90s music scene all over the world and any piece about the decade's pop music would be amiss without a mention of the famous quintet (later quartet).
